Johnson and Johnson Mesothelioma Attorney

In 2018 a St. Louis Jury ordered Johnson & Johnson to pay $4.69 billion to 22 women who used Johnson’s Baby Powder. The baby powder was said to have caused their ovarian cancer. The case was appealed and they cut a deal to pay $2.1 billion. The case is still being appealed in the Supreme Court of Missouri.

Earlier in 2019 four people in New Jersey said their mesothelioma was caused by the Johnson & Johnson baby powder. The jury awarded them $750 million. The judge then reduced the damages to $186.5 million, but the company still appealed the decision.

Johnson & Johnson recalled 33,000 bottles of baby powder in October 2019 due to them finding asbestos in a small sample. Today, there are over 19,000 cases filed against the company for mesothelioma claims. Bloomberg news estimates that the company will have to pay $10 billion to settle all of their cases.

On May 20, 2020 Johnson & Johnson ends their baby powder sales in the United States. Their baby powder only accounted for .5% of their total sales. They had to end sales due to the constant litigation and the decline in demand for the product.
